Sittingbourne have parted company with manager Gary Abbott by mutual consent.

The Brickies boss left the club on Tuesday following a meeting with chairman Andy Spice.

Abbott (pictured) had been forced to work without a budget for the final three months of the Ryman League Division 1 South season, a move instigated by the chairman and which sparked the departure of key players including top-scorer Tom Bradbrook who signed for Margate.

Despite the blow Bourne rallied towards the end of the season and narrowly fell short of a play-off place for the third season in a row.

A statement said: "The club would like to thank Gary for all that he has done, especially with the budget restrictions that he was working under for the latter part of the season and we wish him well for the future."

The Brickies are yet to line-up any possible replacements for Abbott, who is understood to be keen on a swift return to management elsewhere.
