A young woman is warning others to be on their guard after a man indecently exposed himself to her.

Chloe Hutton, 23, was walking to the bus stop along Milton Regis High Street, near Sittingbourne, when she was approached by the sex pest.

The BMW driver - a black man aged between 20 and 30 - pulled up beside her and tried to entice her into his vehicle.

But he drove off after she refused to get in, at about 8.55am on Monday.

It was when he returned for a second time that Chloe noticed he was touching himself while talking to her.

Petrol station worker Chloe said: "He called me over so I thought he was going to ask for directions.

"He introduced himself and asked, 'Can I give you a lift? Get in my car'. I said no and crossed the road.

"He went off up to Vicarage Road and used the roundabout to turn around and come back down the High Street.

"He then pulled up at the bus stop where I was waiting and said 'Get in the car, I'll take you wherever you want to go'.

"It was then I noticed he was touching himself inappropriately.

"He said 'Are you sure you don't want a lift?' I just turned away and was like 'Oh my God'. It was disgusting. I did laugh to myself but it was more out of embarrassment than because I thought it was funny.

"He then drove off in the direction of Sittingbourne but came back and pulled up on the opposite side of the road and shouted out to me but I didn’t respond. I just ignored him."

She added: "This has never happened to me before. I wasn't particularly scared. I'm an adult - I know how things like that work, but if it was a young person they might have been frightened by it.

"What concerns me is that there are two primary schools nearby, Milton Court at the top and Regis Manor which is a five-minute walk in the other direction, and both have nurseries attached to them.

"I was heading into Sittingbourne to go to the library, but I went to the police station and reported the incident instead."

"If he's approaching an adult who's streetwise there's nothing stopping him from approaching someone younger than that..." - mother Dawn Hutton

Chloe's mother Dawn was so concerned she immediately contacted the two nearby schools to make them aware of the incident.

The 44-year-old mother-of-two said: "If he's approaching an adult who's streetwise there's nothing stopping him from approaching someone younger than that.

"What if he was to open the door and grab them and drive off? I couldn't live with myself if that happened and I hadn't said anything."

Kent Police confirmed it has been in contact with schools in the area to issue safety advice.

PC Kim Geach said: "We are following up all lines of inquiry in relation to the matter."
