Seven fire crews attend home alight in Bredgar near Sittingbourne

There was a major blaze at a home near Sittingbourne yesterday.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a bungalow in Swanton Street, Bredgar, at around 3.30pm.

Seven fire engines attended, as well as a bulk water carrier and a height vehicle.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze for three hours using hose reel jets and fog spikes to extinguish the flames.

The fire is believed to have started in the roof.

No-one was injured but two adult residents were treated for shock.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but is believed to be accidental.
