Loving new homes are needed for more than 20 homeless greyhounds.

The Sittingbourne Retired Greyhound Trust is appealing to families looking for a pet to consider adopting one of the dogs which are being looked after at its Canterbury kennels.

Amongst those looking for a new home is Boris. The eight-year-old dog, who is a little shell-shocked but slowly regaining his confidence, would best suit a home without cats.

Perry, a five-year-old black dog with an unusual smile, is described as lovable dog who would make a great family pet and companion. Then there is Bobby, a four-year-old blue and white dog, who only has half a tail.

Brian Booth, who runs the kennels, said: “They’re gentle, affectionate and make great companions. They’re also very good with kids.

“They are ex-racing dogs so people need to be a little patient with them when they come home as all they’ve ever known is kennel life, but they do adapt quickly.

“They need a home for life. Checks will be carried out. People are also welcome to visit the kennels to look at the dogs with no obligation.”
