A MAN suffered severe facial and head injuries after being violently assaulted in Sittingbourne High Street last Thursday.

Police are urging witnesses to come forward after the attack. A police patrol found the 22-year-old man lying in the street by the corner of Iceland supermarket at 00:45am and believe the attack took place some time shortly before this.

The man is being treated for his injuries at Medway Maritime Hospital.

Police would particularly like to speak to three youths who were seen in the nearby graveyard just before the attack took place, as they may be able to assist with the investigation.
