Crash on London-bound M2 near Sittingbourne Stockbury junction causes delays

There were long queues on the M2 this morning after a crash involving four cars.

The accident happened on the London-bound stretch near junction 5 for Sittingbourne and the Stockbury roundabout just after 8am.

One lane of two was blocked while emergency services dealt with the incident.

It reopened just after 9am and delays have since cleared.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 8.07am on Thursday 5 May to a report of a four vehicle collision between Junction 5 and 4 on the London-bound carriageway of the M2.

"South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and any injuries suffered were thought to be minor.

"One lane was closed until around 9.10am to allow emergency services to deal with the incident."
