The 18-year-old was confronted but ran out of the venue. Police were called and he was detained.

He was found with two purple and one pink ecstasy tablet and a bag of ketamine, which weighed 4.28g.

Weatherill, of Bull Lane, Newington, was charged with possession of a Class A drug and possession of a Class B drug and admitted both when he appeared before magistrates in Maidstone on November 1.

Julie Farbrace, prosecuting, told the court he was found with the drugs on December 18 and the three MDMA tablets equated to 4.11g.

She added: “The manager of the Source Bar suspected he had drugs and confronted him, but he ran off.

“He made admissions in interview and is of previous good character.”

Peter Fernando, defending, added: “He is a former Rainham Mark Grammar School pupil and stayed on in the sixth form but then left and is now a roofer and earns £550 a week.

“He had learnt from the error of his ways.”

Magistrates fined Weatherill £550 for the Class A offence and ordered he pay a victim surcharge of £220 as well as £85 court costs.

He received no separate penalty for the other drug offence.
