This week we can announce that the October winners of our monthly Swale’s Good Neighbour competition are Pam and Pete Stock.

The Stocks have been nominated by Julia and David Lewis, of Sunnyside Avenue, Minster, for their consistent acts of kindness and their friendship.

Julia, 29, and David, 33, both work full-time and said the Stocks never fail to help them out when they need it and they consider their neighbours to be their best friends.

The couple said Pete, 66, regularly mows their lawn and if it starts to rain while they are out at work, without fail Pam, 63, and Pete will get their washing in.

Pete has even stopped the Lewis’s garden from flooding.

The Stocks are there for the difficult times in life, too. Julia said when she and David were on their honeymoon, they suffered a family tragedy.

When they returned, Pam and Pete helped them with everything from cooking meals to organising funeral arrangements.

Julia said: “We can honestly say our neighbours are the best anyone could ever wish for.

“They are more than just neighbours and treat us like our own family.

“They are such good neighbours that we would never be able to move, and should we ever have to, it would only be because they were coming with us.”
Pam said: “They are good neighbours to us as well and look after our house.

We don’t do it for any reason other than it’s something we like doing. It’s nice for neighbours to be good friends.”

For winning our competition, Pam and Pete get a meal for two at campaign sponsors The Vineyard in High Street, Sittingbourne.

They also go through to the final, where they could scoop £1,000 from co-sponsor Swale Borough Council.
