A planning condition has been lifted to make the Coniston Hotel more desirable to buyers.

Administrators BDO applied to Swale council to remove condition nine which required the developer to brick-up the first-floor side window of number 76 London Road.

The condition was applied to the detached two storey dwelling, which is owned by the previous owners of the London Road hotel, to ensure there was limited noise impact on the future residents of the property after a new access was created so vehicles could enter the car park to the rear of the hotel.

Planning officer Rob Bailey recommended the condition be lifted after a noise report concluded that with the close boarded fencing and acoustic barriers already in place, noise created by vehicles using the new access would not exceed the noise levels of traffic using the London Road.

Planning committee members agreed to the recommendation when they met at Swale House, in East Street, Sittingbourne last Thursday.

The hotel which underwent a £4 million makeover, was just two weeks away from opening in June, when the administrators were called in.

A spokesman for BDO said: "We are still seeking a buyer and are liaising with interested parties."
