Chemical put through door leaves woman with burns

AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a chemical substance was poured through the letterbox of a property in a Kent town.

A woman reported the incident at her address in Crocus Drive, Sittingbourne, on Tuesday morning.

Police and firefighters went to the property to establish what the substance was.

The woman was treated for minor burns to her hands and was treated at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital. Nobody else was hurt.

Det Insp Susie Harper said: "This was an isolated incident and also very rare. Police have found DNA at the scene and are currently following up a number of lines of enquiry."
