More than 60 alcoholic drinks were seized from youngsters by police during the half-term holiday.

Officers from the Sittingbourne Neighbourhood Team ran an initiative to clamp down on underage drinking in the Newington and Lower Halstow area.

Sgt Dan Worthington, of the Sittingbourne Neighbourhood Team, said: “While a majority of youths in the area do not drink alcohol unlawfully, those who do risk it being seized.

“We now have wide powers in relation to the seizure of alcohol, and will use them all to tackle this issue.

"A fact that not many people are aware of is that alcohol can be seized from those over 18 years of age if we think that it will be supplied to someone under that age.”
