Sheppey professional boxers Matt Butler and Gavin Tait are set to fight on the same bill for the first time this month.

The pair will be on Hellraiser Boxing’s Camden Centre show on Saturday, May 16.

Butler will be looking to make it four wins from four since turning pro and has been taking training to extreme lengths in preparation, completing the London Marathon in 4hrs11min.

“I have to keep running to keep the weight off,” said the Minster-based fighter who once weighed close to 17 stone.

“I’ve done a lot of training in the last three years and know that if I sit around for a week then I can easily put on half a stone.

Butler is likely to be fighting his last four-round bout but an opponent is yet to be named.

Friend and sparring partner Tait, light middleweight, will also be in action in a six-round fight that could be a warm-up to a southern area challenge.

Thirty-four-year-old Butler, who fights either welterweight or light middleweight, added: “We’ve always wanted to be on the same show. It means people can see two Sheppey boxers for the price of one."
