Youngsters hit the bullseye

There were a few cries of “one hundred and eighty” when youngsters took part in a darts match to help them with their maths.

The darts club at Minster College has been set up by head of maths Teresa Povey and vocational lecturer Craig Inns.

It aims to promote teamwork and respect, as well as helping players with their mental numerical skills.

The club is so confident of their throwing skills at the oche that it is hoping other schools will take up the challenge of a friendly match.

Mrs Povey said: “It would be good to take part in tournaments or matches but Craig and I are not aware of any other schools that play darts. The boys said that 'we’d thrash them anyway’. So any challengers. Hopefully we might discover the next Phil Taylor.”
