A 19-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of another cannabis factory in Kent.

He was arrested by police at a property on Marine Parade, Sheerness, at 11am yesterday morning, where a number of rooms were found to have been specially converted to cultivate cannabis.

Officers seized almost 500 plants, which amounted to a street value of around £60,000. Two bags of herbal cannabis worth around £3,000 each were also found at the house.

Similar factories have also been found on the Island and in Sittingbourne over the past few months.

Ch Insp Mark Chambers said: "This is an ongoing police effort. We will continue to execute warrants, make arrests and take action whenever offences are evident."

Sgt Phillips, who was leading yesterday's operation, added: "It is important that any person who has suspicions about a neighbouring property informs the police as the sooner we can close these factories, the sooner we can eliminate the danger they pose."
