A crackdown on noisy and dangerous bike activity has resulted in two mini-moto bikes being seized.

Police community support officers took away two bikes following widespread complaints from people living in Eastchurch and those plagued by the noise of bikers tearing alongside the canal off Halfway Road, Sheerness.

Several bikers were also issued with warnings. If caught again within a year, police can then seize their vehicles.

The problem has become so bad that it was recently raised at a Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meeting.

Sheerness West PCSO Terry Hanlon said: "We are stepping up patrols across the Island and will issue warnings to any rider causing a nuisance on a public highway.

"The loud noise caused by mini motorcycles zooming up and down the streets can be very distressing to residents. In addition, they also pose a danger to the rider and pedestrians."
