Two sets of roadworks cause delays on the A249 in Sheerness

Traffic has been held-up twice in a week by two separate sets of roadworks on the same stretch of main road.

The delays have been caused on the A249 Brielle Way in Sheerness.

A Highways Agency spokesman said the first set of traffic-light controlled roadworks was needed by Southern Gas Networks which was repairing a broken manhole cover last week.

And the second was needed by EDF Energy which was fixing a power supply problem to a pedestrian crossing this week.
