RNLI Whitstable crew saves three adults and two children after boat’s engine fails in The Swale

Volunteers had to rescue five people, including two children, after a boat’s engine failed.

Crews from RNLI Whitstable were called to assist the vessel. which had broken down at Sand End Buoy in The Swale.

After arriving at 7.15pm on Friday (September 1), they found three adults and two children onboard.

It was found the craft, a 21-foot angling dory, had suffered an engine failure.

Its emergency motor also failed to start, meaning the boat was taken under tow.

Both the craft and those onboard landed ashore at Harty Ferry, on Sheppey, before the lifeboat returned to station.
