Arrests follow Airsoft weapon theft in Berridge Road, Sheerness

Three people are to appear in court in connection with the theft of airsoft weapons.

The trio were arrested after police issued an appeal for information when a number of replica firearms were reportedly stolen from a vehicle in Berridge Road, Sheerness.

This happened between 8.30pm on November 24 and 4.30am the next morning.

Sammy Hooper, 24, of Invicta Road, Sheerness, and a 17-year-old Minster boy have been charged with two counts of handling stolen goods.

Patrick Oxley, 24, of Invicta Road, Sheerness, has been charged with theft from a motor vehicle.

He is also accused of possessing an airsoft weapon with intent to cause fear of violence between November 28 and November 29.

He will also face a charge of burgling a garage in Invicta Road between November 26 and November 27.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on January 4.

Ms Hooper and the teenager have been bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates' Court on January 6.

Similar to paintball, airsoft is an activity in which people take part in mock battles - firing small plastic pellets at each other.
