Sheppey secured promotion from Kent Feeder League East Division 1C by winning their showdown with Hawkinge.

The sides went into Saturday’s game at Holm Park with Sheppey lying second, seven points in front of third-placed Hawkinge.

It was Sheppey who clinched the second promotion spot behind champions Holborough Anchorians with a seven-wicket success.

Sheppey captain Kevin Barnes (pictured) put the visitors in after winning the toss and saw his decision vindicated as Hawkinge were bowled out for 131, with Joe Sands claiming 4-52.

But Parag Madkaikar then ensured that Sheppey had a few anxious moments, claiming 5-25 off 12 overs, before Barnes’ side finally edged home with less than six overs to spare. Aaron Walker (31) and Alex Patt (30) were the main contributors to their total of 132-7.
