Hard work and dedication is what is needed from three youngsters now they have been voted onto the Kent Youth County Council.

All three of the Sheppey candidates who were standing found out they had been accepted onto the council when the results were announced at County Hall in Maidstone on Saturday.

The KYCC allows members to work closely with Kent County Council to inform them of young people’s issues and concerns.

Thousands of youngsters from around the county voted in the elections at 168 polling stations.

Gino Spocchia, 13, has been voted on as a full council member, while his fellow pupils at the Sheppey Academy’s west site, Emilyann Balderston, 14, and Abbey Brown, 14, are deputy members.

Jack Bean and Annie Maxted from Sittingbourne and Helen Dickman from Faversham are also representing Swale on the council.
