Road crash victim was 'lovely man'

A GRIEVING wife whose husband was killed in a motorbike accident has spoken of his love, kindness and permanent smile.

Audrey Douglas, of Leysdown, Sheppey, described her partner Gary as a lovely man who was there for everyone.

She said: "He was extremely clever and if anyone ever wanted him, he was there. He was loved so much. He died doing something he loved, riding his bike. He was a lovely man and now he has been snatched away."

Mr Douglas, 43, a field engineer, died in hopsital on Friday after his Aprilia motorbike was involved in a collision with a Nissan Micra in Rowetts Way, Eastchurch, shortly after 10am.

Mrs Douglas said: "Never once did anyone see him lose his temper and he always had a smile on his face. Our 19-year-old nephew lives with us and Gary always treated him like one of his own. He looked up to Gary and even called him Dad."

A 37-year-old woman was arrested at the scene of the accident and is on police bail pending further inquiries.

Police are appealing to witnesses to the accident to contact PC Bob Welsby on 01795 477055.
