Masked armed robbers who pushed a shop assistant to the floor before stealing cash are being hunted by police.

Police were called to a convenience store in Queensway, Sheerness, at about 8.40pm on Tuesday, following reports cash had been stolen.

It is thought two men, who had scarves covering their faces, entered the store and demanded money from the shop assistant.

When he refused, they pushed him to the ground and took money from behind the counter.

A police spokesman said at least one of the men had a weapon, although it was not a firearm.

Both men are described as white, around 5ft 5in tall and of slim build.

One was wearing a black ski-style jacket with a multi-coloured scarf and the other had a blue ski-style jacket with a black scarf.

Detective Inspector Emma Banks, from Mid Kent’s Area Major Enquiry Team, is asking anyone with information to contact Kent Police on 01795 419282 quoting reference CY/19410/10 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
