A man was taken to hospital after a hit and run crash in Sheerness this morning.

Two cars collided in Marine Parade at 8.21am.

But police confirmed the driver of a blue Renault Megane reportedly fled the scene.

The casualty, who was driving a white Vauxhall, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Officers closed the road to recover the vehicles and it was due to re-open at around 12.20pm.

A police spokesman said: "Inquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the Megane who reportedly left the scene."
