Pensioner dies after head-on crash

AN ELDERLY car driver has died in hospital after being involved in a head-on crash in Sheerness.

John Miller, 79, of Woodland Drive, Minster, Sheppey, broke both legs and suffered chest injuries in the accident on Monday last week. He finally lost his fight for life last Wednesday.

Mr Millar was driving a blue Austin Metro which was in collision with a silver Hyundai van in Brielle Way. A Ford Orion was also involved in the accident.

Mr Millar leaves a widow and son who flew in from Canada following the accident.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash which occurred at about 10.50am. They have been studying CCTV footage and have appealed for the drivers of a dark hatchback and a silver hatchback who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.

Both were travelling in the opposite carriageway to where the accident took place. Anyone with information is asked to contact Swale Police on 01795 477055.
