There's often a story behind where a band gets its name from – and that is the case for the B# Trio, who were inspired by popular cartoon family The Simpsons.

Blues/funk band the B# (sharp) Trio formed in March and played their first gig at the Ivy Leaf Bar in Sheerness.

The band members are 28-year-old Kerry Little from Sheerness, who is the singer and guitarist, and Minster brothers Joe and Jim Warner. Joe, 28, is the bassist and 22-year-old Jim is the drummer.

Kerry said they chose the name of the band from a music note that doesn’t exist. Musicians will know there is no B#.

But there is also an episode of The Simpsons where Homer forms a barbershop quartet with Principal Skinner, Barney and Apu called The Be Sharps and Kerry said this was also an influence.

The band play covers of artists including Johnny Cash and Jimmy Hendrix and are also working on some of their own material.

They are currently working on about five or six of their own songs.

The B# Trio is also going to take part in the Battle of the Bands at Minster Working Men’s Club, which kicks off in January next year.

Kerry said he had been in a few different bands and had written guitar music but not lyrics.

He added: “The B# Trio has had four gigs so far and they have all been successful.

“We are really looking forward to the Battle of the Bands.”
