Men use hammer to smash into sleeping couple's caravan in Queenborough, Sheppey

A sleeping couple were violently robbed when three men used a hammer to smash into their caravan.

The man and woman, who are in their 40s, were in bed in their mobile home parked in Argent Road, Queenborough, Sheppey.

Between 1am and 2am, three men broke-in after initially banging loudly on the door.

After getting into the trailer, they threatened the couple with the hammer, demanding to be given access to another unit parked nearby.

The woman was then kicked in the stomach, and later required hospital treatment.

The men eventually fled, stealing a Samsung mobile phone and drove away in white van, possibly a Vauxhall Vivaro or a Renault Traffic.

They were all said to be wearing hoodies and baseball caps. One of them is described as white, in his 20s, around 5ft 9ins, clean shaven and of slim-build.

Another is also white, of a similar age and 5ft 11ins.

Investigating officer Det Con Jo Kirkham said: “Although we are treating this as an isolated incident it was a particularly horrific ordeal for the victims, which has left them frightened for their safety.”
