Two men seriously injured in a crash which closed the Sheppey Crossing have been released from hospital.

The pair were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital following Tuesday’s crash, which happened at about 6.30am and caused a headache for rush-hour drivers.

Chicken and pork chops spilled across the road when a lorry was in collision with a van near the Cowstead Corner roundabout.

The 52-year-old van driver suffered chest injuries, while the 40-year-old lorry driver had shoulder, arm and back injuries.

According to police, both have now been released from hospital.

Drivers were forced to use the Kingsferry Bridge after the crash, but tailbacks still stretched back to Iwade.
