The family of a woman who is battling bowel cancer for the third time have run a half-marathon to raise money for charity.

Lyn Walker was first diagnosed in September 2007.

After beating it twice, the cancer returned last year – but the 49-year-old has now had an operation and is awaiting the all-clear.

Lyn, of Invicta Road, Sheerness, supports Bowel Cancer Campaign, a charity set up by TV presenter Lynn Faulds Wood.

Her sons Matt and Dean George, their cousin Paul Mawhinney and friend Daniel Baker all took part in the Adidas Half Marathon at Silverstone race track in Northamptonshire on March 6 to raise money for the charity.

Matt, 28, took part in the same race last year with his 25-year-old brother Dean and said this year the group managed to raise £600 between them.

Paul, 26, finished the 13.1-mile run in 1 hour 56 mins; Matt managed 2 hours 1 min; Daniel, 33, completed it in 2 hours 11 mins and Dean finished in 2 hours 22 mins.

Matt said his mum is doing well and is over the worst of it.

He added: “We were all pretty impressed with how we did.

“We had all the family there to support us and we enjoyed it.

“I’d like to say thanks for all the support and sponsorship we have had.”
