The stretch will be closed between the Whiteway Road roundabout and Bridge Road – from 8pm to 4am.

Further filming is to take place on Sunday, December 3, meaning the same piece of road will be out of bounds from 8pm to 4am again.

A spokeswoman for the Kent Film Office said: “The closure is in place to facilitate filming of a straightforward driving sequence on an open road.

“As a result, there will also be temporary holds on West Street, King Street, Chapel Street, Sheppey Street and High Street during these hours.

“Traffic will be held at these junctions for no longer than three minutes – with the exception of emergency vehicles who will be granted access at all times.

“This filming should cause minimal disruption to residents and businesses.

“Resident letters have been issued and these include contact details of both the Kent Film Office and the production.

“Production has been liaising with National Highways to ensure smooth delivery.”

It is not yet known which film or TV series is being shot on the road.

Kent Film Office has been approached for comment.

The closure comes just one month after the trailer for a Jason Statham film was released – with part of the movie being filmed on the Kingsferry Bridge which connects Sheppey and the mainland.

The scene from The Beekeeper, which is due to be released in cinemas on January 12, 2024, was shot in October last year during two days of filming.

However tonight’s closure is the latest on the A249 where roadworks have been frustrating drivers for months.

The Maidstone-bound Sheppey Crossing is down to one lane on the approach to the Grovehurst roundabout, which has led to lengthy delays.

Meanwhile, the Maidstone-bound dual carriageway has been reduced to just one lane between the Stockbury roundabout and Rumstead Lane since September 29.
