There is still time to make a lantern and take part in this year’s Christmas Lantern Parade, which looks set to be a colourful one.

Big Fish Arts, which organises the event, has been holding workshops around the Island for people to make the lanterns, the theme of which this year is rainbow colours.

The parade is due to take place on Saturday leaving from Beachfields Park at 4pm.

A final workshop will be held on Thursday at the Healthy Living Centre off Royal Road, Sheerness, from 3.30pm – 5.30pm.

The work shops are also for people who wish to take part in the Sheerness Together at Christmas campaign to produce festive window displays.

The winner of the campaign will be announced after the parade at the clock tower, where there will also be refreshments and carols.

Chris Reed, from Big Fish Arts, said this year’s workshops, which they have been holding for schools, organisations and the public, have been popular.

She said: “It’s been a very good response from the children so far.

“If anyone has an organisation or group they would like to advertise we would like them to come along and join in the parade – it’s a community event.”
