A songwriter has been rubbing shoulders with the stars after being invited to join a record label set up by Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle’s brother.

Musician Meryl Heasman, who lives in High Street, Sheerness, set up the Catflap Music record label in 2003.

Since then she has been in touch with the agents of many stars, including Jodie Prenger, who won the BBC’s I’d Do Anything reality show to become the new Nancy in a West End version of Oliver!

Meryl writes and produces her own music, but is always on the look out for people to sing her tracks.

When Susan Boyle rose to fame earlier this year, Meryl immediately decided she liked her voice and would like to work with her.

She tried contacting the Scottish singer and eventually got in touch with one of her brothers, Gerry Boyle, who has just launched his own record label, Instant Music.

Meryl, 54, sent Gerry some of her material, and after hearing it he phoned her straight away.
