Police have been searching Queenborough on the Isle of Sheppey after dozens of suspected illegal immigrants escaped from a lorry this morning.

Around 30 people are said to have jumped off the truck and scattered at about 10.15am.

It is believed the vehicle was delivering to the Aesica factory in North Road.

Kent Police had officers in the town searching for them and a helicopter was also scrambled.

A spokesman said some people had been detained, but was unable to confirm how many.
