Chinese takeaway in Sheerness high street to shut for fortnight

One of the high street’s most popular takeaways is to temporarily close this summer.

Choi’s, in Sheerness Town Centre, will be shut for more than two weeks starting from Tuesday.

The family-run eatery serves a mix of Chinese and English cuisine.

It also offers Peking and Cantonese options – food which originates from Beijing and Guangzhou in China.

It has been on Sheppey since 1984 and received a five-star hygiene rating as recently as February this year.

A spokesman for the eatery said: “We will be closed from August 1 until August 15, and will reopen as normal on August 16.

“The reason we are closing is not for any work being done, but for family reasons.

“We will not be shutting permanently.”

The takeaway’s opening hours are 4pm–10pm from Tuesday until Saturday.

They also open at 1.30pm on Sundays, but are closed each Monday.

Choi’s is also based just three doors away from a site which has been recently refurbished by TV giants Channel 4.

The property of former barber shop Bill’s, which has been derelict and out of use for more than 15 years, has been transformed following a huge makeover by those working on the hit property show Worst House on the Street.

It is due to appear on UK screens this autumn.
