Chef in need of a kitchen to call home

The Island’s community chef and some budding Jamie Olivers need your help.

Mike Spackman has been working with pupils from the Isle of Sheppey Academy as part of an alternative curriculum programme.

The basic life skills programme includes cooking and, at the moment, it is being trialled at the Healthy Living Centre in Sheerness.

However, Mr Spackman said the kitchen there is not really fit for purpose and so he is appealing to local kitchen fitters and suppliers to see if they can help.

He said if there is anyone in the process of removing an old kitchen which could be reused he would be pleased to hear from them.

They are hoping for a sink and unit, a small amount of work surface and some cupboards as well as some workmen who can volunteer their time to help fit any donations.

Once they have the equipment there, Mr Spackman said he hopes to use it as a base for offering cooking programmes to the community.
