Five fire crews rushed to Barton's Point coastal park at Sheerness on Saturday night when rockets from a model plane airshow set fire to grass.

The embankment near the Halfway Road also went up in flames on Sunday.

Now it is on fire again near Southview Gardens. It has been burning since 4pm. Kent Fire and Rescue Service is in attendance.

Fire crews also had to attend a flat fire in Queenborough High Street on Tuesday night, at the height of the Island's water shortage, where a man was treated for smoke inhalation.

A derelict end-of-terrace house next to the Baptist church in Strode Crescent, Sheerness, caught fire on Thursday afternoon. A bulk water carrier was sent to the scene as Sheppey hydrants were still low on water following a mains burst near the Kingsferry Bridge.
