A 22-year-old man who has a problem with anger management was ordered to pay back the benefit he had been claiming while working.

Magistrates in Sittingbourne ordered Anthony Hollywell, from Noreen Avenue, Minster, near Sheerness, to continue paying back the £4,157.53 he claimed in incapacity benefit during the year and a half he worked.

The court heard how Hollywell had got himself in financial difficulties and had been trying to hold down a job. He wanted to see if he could do that for three months and had every intention of signing off after that.

He was using the money to get accommodation because he had been sleeping rough.

He was also attending the Trinity Road Mental Health Team to help him with his anger management but couldn’t take medication because he would take it all at once.

Magistrates also ordered Hollywell to complete 18 months community service and part of that includes working on basic skills.
