An arson attack at a holiday park is not being linked to a similar incident less than a week before.

Two crews of firefighters from Sheppey and Eastchurch were called to a caravan alight at Warden Springs Caravan Park off Thorn Hill Road, Warden, at 6.30pm on Sunday.

The caravan was destroyed and it took crews about an hour to tackle the blaze. Two gas cylinders nearby were removed.

The latest fire comes six days after a caravan was destroyed in an arson attack at Sea Cliff Holiday Park in Oak Lane, Minster, but police are not linking the two.

  • Police are appealing for witnesses to the fire. If you have any information, phone the Island CID team on 01795 584110, quoting crime reference CY/1887/11.
