TV judge Robert Rinder is the new patron of Sheppey charity Curly’s Legacy.

The criminal barrister and television personality, who stars on the ITV daytime show Judge Rinder, has a passion for supporting those who face inequality and injustice.

Kyle and Garry Ratcliffe, the founders of Curly’s Legacy, which runs Curly’s Farm in Bay View and Curly’s Caravan in Leysdown as well as a foodbank service, first met Robert two years ago.

The TV personality, who also starred in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2016, was hosting the Attitude Pride Awards ceremony in London, at which the dads were presented with an award to celebrate their dedication to promoting adoption and fostering.

The couple kept in touch with Robert – making him aware of developments on the farm and telling him about the families who were using the charity’s caravan to have memory-making holidays.

Robert said: “When Garry and Kyle approached me to become a patron of Curly’s Legacy, I was delighted to offer my support to such a positive and life-changing charity that is at the heart of the community.

“Whenever I visit, I can see for myself the difference that the charity makes to people, and that is something to celebrate.”

The charity was set up almost two years ago by Kyle and Garry, former head teacher at Milton Court School in Milton Regis, near Sittingbourne , after they had their family home in Brambledown transformed by TV’s DIY SOS team in 2016.

Kyle said: “We are all so pleased to have Rob on board. He is generous with his time, his support and advice, and having such a popular and well-loved person as a patron of the charity gives a great deal of pride to all of us involved.”
