Sevenoaks District Council launches new service in a bit to reduce energy bills

Sevenoaks District Council has launched a new service in a bid to save residents and businesses money on energy bills.

The new www.sevenoaksswitchandsave.co.uk service compares the tariffs of energy suppliers highlighting where to switch supplier and save money.

Since launching at the end of September residents have saved nearly £3,000 by switching tariffs, with an average saving of £220 per person.

Switch and Save is impartial and aims to compare prices from all UK energy suppliers.

Cllr Robert Piper, the council’s cabinet member for energy efficiency, said: “Residents and businesses, especially those who rarely or have never switched supplier, can make substantial savings if they compare and switch using our service.

"What’s more everyone who uses the service will help fund home insulation for vulnerable Sevenoaks District residents.”

Users can start the process and compare suppliers by entering their postcode in to the website. For those who don't have internet access they can call 0800 410 1147 or 01732 227111 from a mobile phone.

For every resident and business that switches via the service, the Council will receive a switching fee that will be reinvested in energy efficiency and fuel poverty initiatives to help the most vulnerable people in the District.
