A young man was arrested after the car he was driving left the road and struck a pedestrian, trapping him against a wall.

A police spokesman said the pedestrian suffered leg injuries in the incident, which happened just before 12.15am Sunday in Sevenoaks High Street.

He was taken to Kent and Sussex Hospital at Tunbridge Wells - but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man from Tonbridge who was driving the VW Polo involved on suspicion of dangerous driving. He was later released on bail pending further investigation.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident. It reopened at around 1.30am.
