Man charged with multiple thefts from Waitrose in Sevenoaks High Street

A suspect has been charged with multiple thefts from a supermarket.

James Purnell is accused of going into Waitrose in Sevenoaks High Street on three separate occasions between August 29 and December 29, and stealing alcohol, electronic toothbrushes and food products valued at more than £1,500.

It is also alleged he went to the supermarket two further times, during the same period, but left empty-handed when he was challenged by a member of staff.

On Thursday, January 5 the suspect was arrested in London.

James Purnell, of Oakfield Road, Penge was later charged with three thefts and five counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order.

The 39-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, January 6 where he was remanded in custody to a hearing on a date to be confirmed.
