SANDWICH Juniors have battled their way through to the national finals of the Primary Schools Kwik Cricket Championships at Grace Road, Leicester next Monday.
By finishing runners-up in the Kent finals at Canterbury on Sunday, Sandwich qualified for the South East Regional finals at Regents Park in London the following day where they produced a tremendous performance against seven other teams from London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Sandwich finished second in their group to qualify for the semi-finals, where they defeated Pyrford PS from Surrey, before overcoming Maidenbower PS from Crawley in Sussex in the final.
Sandwich team manager Alistair Boniface said: “When you consider that around 2500 primary schools in the south east region entered the competition, it’s a great achievement to have reached the national final."
