Campaigners who claim that a traffic calming scheme has made their road less safe will demand action tonight at a Coxheath Parish Council meeting.

Hundreds of people in Coxheath are angry about build-outs recently introduced in Heath Road to supposedly slow drivers down.

But according to residents all the measures have done is cause extra accidents, including one three weeks ago in which several people, including a pregnant woman, needed hospital treatment.

Anyone who opposes the measures is asked to attend the meeting tonight at Coxheath Village Hall in Stockett Lane from 7.30pm.

Lead campaigner Tony Monk, of Heath Road, is due to speak at the meeting and will also have a petition there for concerned people to sign.

He said: "All we want is some action. They've told us they're doing surveys and improvements but that means nothing to us. We want to see something done right now about this dangerous situation."

A full report on the meeting will be available here Wednesday
