Tailbacks continue on the M20

DRIVERS are being urged to avoid part of the M20 after Operation Stack was again put into force by Kent Police.

Tailbacks are now stretching back as far as junction 6 of the coast-bound carriageway from junction 6 due to a backlog of freight traffic for the Port of Dover between junctions 8 and 12.

Vehicles are being diverted onto the A249 towards the M2. Traffic is also being diverted onto the A20, but that route is also very congested and should be avoided if possible.

Motorists are being urged to use the M2/A2 route to Dover docks.

Police say the M2 and M20 London-bound are flowing freely.

Operation Stack was introduced again yesterday afternoon when poor weather in the Channel began to affect ferry crossings.
