Triumph Tiger 800

Triumph is to launch new versions of its hugely successful Tiger 800 for 2015, in a significant reorganisation of the range.

The two new sets of three variants are expected to be called the XC, XCX, XC Adventure, and the XR, XRX and XR Touring.

They should début at November's Milan Motorcycle Show, but several widely-distributed online screen-shots have leaked the names of the new bikes.

It is not yet clear whether the new ranges will replace the existing Explorer models or be built alongside them, but price differences suggest the Explorer range will remain as the flagship.

The Tiger Sport, however, may fall outside the lines of the new system and be discontinued.

XR-badged bikes are expected to be fitted with road-only tyres on cast wheels and slightly lower suspension, while the XC series will stand taller, have higher seat options and use dual-purpose tyres on spoked wheels.

The XC range will also have a sump guard and engine protectors, and each model is likely to cost £500 more than its comparable XR confederate.

Triumph is for now staying tight-lipped on the new models.
