M20 lights soon at accident blackspot

Work begins on installing lights along a 2km stretch of the M20 at Junction 3 (Wrotham)on Saturday, September 13.

The move follows the Kent Messenger’s Lights For Life campaign launched after a series of fatal accidents at the spot where the M20 and M26 merge.

While the work is carried out, three narrow lanes will be maintained on the M20 London and coast-bound carriageways during the day, but these may be reduced to two at night.

A 50mph speed limit will be in imposed, enforced by mobile speed cameras, while the 15m high lighting columns are installed. The work will take until Christmas.

At times there may be narrowed lanes on the M26 as well.
