Blade Runner - The Return

Convoy leaves Chatham Docks last month
Convoy leaves Chatham Docks last month

They're back! A second convoy of giant wind turbines are due to arrive at Chatham Docks next week.

Kent Police is warning drivers of the abnormally long loads set to make the journey to a new wind farm at Romney Marsh from Monday.

This is the second phase of the convoy which will be moving along Kent roads at up to three loads at one time.

It follows 27 loads which were escorted at the beginning of June this year.

On Monday there will be two movements of three loads leaving Chatham Docks at between 5.30am and 6am and again at around 11am.

The vehicles will travel along the A289 Medway tunnel road, then join the M2 exiting at junction 3.

The loads will continue down Bluebell Hill before joining the M20.

This will be repeated throughout the week, with no loads travelling at the weekend.

It is expected that movements will continue on Monday, July 28 until Thursday, July 31 with up to two loads travelling at the same times in an attempt to miss commuter traffic.

Six Kent Police motorcyclists and one car will escort each movement.

Motorists are being urged to listen to local radio travel bulletins before setting on their journey to ensure they avoid any traffic delays.

Kent Police is working closely with the Highways Agency and Kent County Council's Highways department to ensure the least possible disruption.
