MORE than 100 jobs have been created following the opening of a new B&Q store on the Park Farm Industrial Park at Folkestone.

It was officially opened by badminton champion Gail Emms, an Olympic silver medallist.

The event was also given an air of pomp and ceremony by the marching band from the Ghurkha Regiment from the Shorncliffe Barracks in Folkestone.

Team B&Q member Gail Emms said: "I felt really privileged to be invited to such an exciting event. I met lots of staff and they were really keen to hear about my sporting experiences."

B&Q store manager Bill O’Riley said: “It’s was great to have an Olympic medallist to come down to open the new store."
