QUIZ-GOERS attending Canterbury's biggest ever charity wine and wisdom evening will receive a treat from the event's wine suppliers.

The event will raise funds for Walking Bus and other Kent charities.

Morrisons and Hardy's are to team up to supply 15 dozen bottles of Nottage Hill Chardonnay and Nottage Hill Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz to ensure every guest has a complimentary glass with their ploughman's meal on the night, as well as bottles for the top 10 teams taking part.

The quiz will take place at the Body and Mind Sports Hall, Knight Avenue, Canterbury from 7pm on Friday, March 28, and tickets can be bought using a credit or debit card from the KM Big Quiz section of the website www.kmwalktoschool.co.uk

Four causes will benefit from the proceeds raised on the night. These are the Canterbury district branch of the RSPCA, League of Friends at Canterbury Hospital, Lady Mayoress of Canterbury's Charity Appeal and the award winning children's road safety charity, Kent Walking Bus project.

The cost for a table of eight people remains at £60, as it has done for the last two years, which is £7.50 per person.

To set a new Canterbury record more than 76 teams of eight people must attend. A tougher task will be breaking the Kent record which stands at 84 teams and was set in Ashford in November.

A number of sponsors have already agreed to support the KM Big Quiz including the Body and Mind Sports Centre, P&O Ferries and Shepherd Neame.

Main sponsors for the event are Serco, Brett Aggregates, Parry Sharratt Solicitors and BSF consulting engineers but event organizer Simon Dolby is searching for additional main sponsors who will agree to fund the event with a £500 donation, as well as seven £100 sponsors of the quiz rounds.

Martin Fuller of Morrisons at Wincheap, Canterbury said: "This is a fantastic event for us to be involved in because the KM Big Quiz supports excellent causes and really is at the heart of the community. Supporting the event delivers a high profile so I would urge local companies to follow our lead and back the event."

He added that the support of the community had enabled the store to refit the restaurant and pharmacy and fund a fresh look to the Market Street area of the store.

"Canterbury has been good to Morrisons so it is excellent we are able to give something back by supporting this major charity event."

Both the Nottage Hill Chardonnay and Nottage Hill Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz selected by Morrisons retail for £6.98.

To have a quiz round named after your business or organisation costs a minimum of £100 insponsorship. For information call Mr Dolby on 07989 164 752.
