Organisers of a charity concert to raise money for injured Service personnel say they were disappointed with the turn-out.

A Day for Heroes was the brainchild of Ashford-based roadshow organisers Your Voice. They are holding five events across the UK this year to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.

The concert, at the Kent Showground, Detling, on Sunday, featured McFly as the headline act, plus Nik Kershaw, Counterfeit Stones and Ultimate Earth Wind and Fire.

Roger Dudding, of Your Voice said: "We are very happy with how the event went, but disappointed there were not more people.

"McFly are a band which have a core following, but we did not have that core following throughout the whole day.

"Maybe it was the weather or the fact it was a Sunday, I don’t know, but we are having a full de-brief.

"We will be returning to Detling on August 21, for the charity and hope to see more people there."

Caroline Clarke, Hazel Cooksley and her daughter Ellie, from Maidstone, were among those who turned out.

Mrs Cooksley said: "My daughter Ellie is here for McFly but we've really enjoyed Nik Kershaw. There's something here for everyone."
